I am planning a gap year for 05 06 and am looking at options. I am currently planning on being an exchange student with ASSE (I have already traveled with them before) but yesterday I came across these programs and was curious if anyone has any experience with them. My main concern is the money, as my budget must be under 7,000. I do not want/need any college credit, but I would love to travel/study/work abroad for the year. Any information yall have would be helpful.

Thanks

Which programs? You didn't list any.

Try www.madventurer.com. You'll have to figure out a way to earn money/volunteer in exchange for room and board, if you want to take a whole year off.

More likey, you should work for four to six months in the Us and get another $5-6k together and then set out....

I'm also planning to take time out from academics. The issue for me would be convincing parents about time off. Gap years/interims experiences or information anyone?
