For those parents who know a bit about both types of GPAs.. the Overall GPA is basically what we've been using here thus far: the weighted/unweighted GPA from 9th-11th (to calculate final ranking: 12th, but colleges only see 9th-11th/first half of 12th) grades in all subjects.
The UC GPA is 10th and 11th grades, only academic classes falling under the "A-G" requirements. Under the UC GPA system, classes such as "Tutoring" "Work Experience" etc., are not integrated in calculating GPA, therefore (obviously) they have no impact. Under the UC calculation program, there is a cap of 8 AP points.
My question is, which do you believe is better in accurately displaying the student's academic progress in High School?
