i got into Mccormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, but now i'm not quite so sure i want to do engineering...will northwestern allow me to double major in biomed engineering as well as political science/international studies, even though they're totally unrelated fields? or should i see if i can transfer out of the school of engineering and into weinberg?
i also have the same dilemma for tufts, i got into the engineering school...
in terms of flexibility, in which school will it be easier to double major/switch schools?
opinions will be greatly appreciated!!

I am not a parent of a student at Tufts...however, I am an alumni of Tufts, also an alumni interviewer of prospective Tufts students, and my junior daughter is currently interested in applying to Tufts and we recently did a campus visit so I have some familiarity here. I know you can switch easily between the college of liberal arts and the school of engineering at Tufts. It likely is better to start in engineering and switch to liberal arts, than vice versa cause Engineering has so many required courses. But the sessions we attended at Tufts totally addressed this issue and yes, you can switch. I am not positive on the double major thing with engineering being one of the majors...but you definitely can major in engineering and minor in something like international relations. I hope you can visit the school, talk to professors regarding these issues, and to students most of all. Hope this helps a little bit. Also, within engineering there are B.S. programs that are not the enginneering board accredited programs, and thus have less required courses, and you could possibly get one of these engineering degrees and double major that with a liberal arts major. Please look into it further cause I believe the flexibility you are looking for is indeed there for you at Tufts with both engineering and liberal arts. Plus the college is wonderful and in a fantastic location.....just thought I would add that in!
