Has anyone found suitable insurance for time between college enrollment and time when isurance lapses at 19.

As long as you child is in college, s/he is covered by your health insurance.

our insurance even covers dependents up to age 24 when they are not in college. Check your policy

Our policy allows for the child to convert it to an individual policy when s/he graduates or turns whatever age it is, I think 23.
Your policy may cover your child between HS graduation and college enrollment, even if they turn 19 during that time. Or it may not--call your insurance company.
In some states, Costco provides relatively inexpensive catastrophic insurance. Some professional societies provide group health insurance as well.
