In case this hasn't been referenced elsewhere on these boards, there's an interesting article on the Johns Hopkins program and on giftedness in general in a recent New Yorker (July 26, sorry, I'm always a bit behind). It's called "Nerd Camp." Here's an interview with the writer: http://www.newyorker.com/online/content/?040726on_onlineonly01
"This 'rage to learn,' as one psychologist puts it, is what really distinguishes the gifted from other students. Their minds may be no sharper at birth than anyone else's, but they spend their lives continually, compulsively honing them."

Does anyone know if this article is online yet? I tried to get the magazine at the bookstore earlier this week but it was too late. It's not on the NY website.
