It's not that I don't care ... it's that I have no information to offer you; I think you might try a different area of this site.
We are parents who are discussing our children's college plights. (Often we have more questions that answers.)
Unless there's someone here with an international student in his or her home, or a person with knowledge about international students I doubt you'll get many, if any, responses. We aren't being rude or dismissive ... truly!
Have you tried tried "Admissions" or "What Are My Chances"?
Best to you--

koji, as you know, finding money for an international student is next to impossible. i'm guessing that you are about to get an AA and your visa will expire if you can't transfer and you don't have the money even if you can get in someplace. it's not that people at this board don't care, it's just that no one has the solution to your problem.
but here's something to look into: the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticutt. 4-year completely accredited college.
here's the bad part: it is run by the Reverend Sun Moon's Unification Church... sometimes disparagingly referred to as 'the Moonies'. they have a bad reputation in this country. they are known as a cult that takes over its members' lives, separates them from their families, and puts them to work for the personal enrichment of the Rev Sun Moon and his church. for years members were seen panhandling in airports and other public places. in recent years, Sun Moon (a Korean) has tried to bolster his image in this country through several front organizations including the Washington Times newspaper and the University of Bridgeport.
here's the good news: they give scholarships to international students. in fact, way over half of the study body is international, many on scholarships. no, you don't have to be a Moonie. you don't have to be anything. in fact, you will probably never come in contact with any member of the Unification Church unless you want to. americans are all afraid to go there because of the Moonies reputation. but believe me, they will not bother you. i have met Catholics who work there, who COULD NOT STAY THERE if the Moonies were practicing any form of religious coersion there. i believe you will find that they are more understanding than other universities about the unusual situations of international students, including academic difficulties caused by english language deficiencies. i believe that they accept transfers in the spring. however i believe that scholarships are offered only to students admitted in the fall. here is their website:
www.bridgeport.edu
the information there can be a little vague and their bureaucracy is not always well informed. i'm not saying it's the best institution in the country. but if i am at all close in assessing your situation, it's worth looking into. i know of bridgeport from helping a chinese girl apply there. the SATs and ACTs were not offered in p.r. china at the time, so almost no american colleges would or could seriously consider her. bridgeport accepted her, gave her a scholarship, and she eventually went on to bigger and better things. good luck to you.

Kojikibuto: the answer may be within your own post: apply for a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship, and ask the advisor for the names of universities accepting/offering scholarships to members. Good luck!
