Thought I'd share this website. www.getschooled.com I saw it mentioned some place else and bookmarked it for looking at later.

Today I have spent a good bit of time reading alot of the sections and have found it to be pretty thorough. Not exactly for parents, but I wanted to preview it before sharing it with my daughter. (I've wasted her time before on sites I thought were interesting only to find they were of my liking and not hers)

This site definitely uses "kidspeak" and covers a few topics I wasn't thrilled with, including one on how to skip class and another on how to manipulate a teacher, but once I read them I decided they weren't exactly advocating either situation, and decided my daughter was wise enough to realize this too.

The section on college and love was a bit TMI (too much information) for me, but I'm realistic enough to know that this stuff is out there and after reading it decided that their approach was straight forward and didn't pull any punches on risks etc. I thought the sections dealing with long distance relationships and how to break up were really good and I wish I had read the breaking up one this past summer when my daughter was going through the broken heart thing.

It has a great section on organizing money for a college student and another great section on dealing with room mates and what to bring to college.

All in all I thought it was a great site for future college students and decided to share it with the posters here who might share it with their children too. I'm sure my daughter will find this site helpful to her.

Have a good day. And if you check out the site, tell me what you think. If you have any good ones to share, let me know.

I haven't read it all yet, but it looks like it does have some realistic and helpful info to offer. Thanks for posting it. (I posted it to the PR parents' board as well, because I know there are some parents there whose kids would be interested.)

My daughter gave it a thumbs up if that means anything to anyone but me :) (she tends to roll her eyes at some of the websites I send her as being more for me than her)

I think one of the things that appealed to her was the fact that it does seem to be directed right at the student in as I said earlier "kidspeak" IMO they could have eliminated some of the curse words, but then again I'm a mom.

Thanks for posting it at PR, I had thought about it but just been too busy the couple of days.

Some good info in kidspeak, but am I the only one who gets weird errors when navigating around the site?

I've not had any problems navigating the site. If you spend as much time online and websurfing as I do then you might have your temporary files overloaded. Sometimes when I start experiencing difficulties with error msgs and such, I just dump all the temp files and history and I'm off and running again.

Glad you liked the site.
