There is this essay topic that is really bothering me.
At ______ College, we believe in active citizenship. Imagine that it is 2008. What has been your major contribution to _____ College as an active citizen.
Anything I write, it sounds too forced like if I am trying to hard to impress the adcom. I have tried to use my personal voice, but this essay topic is so flat.
Any angles that I should approach this essay is welcome and greatly appreciated.

You could start by looking at the view book and seeing if they say anything about this topic. If they do, build off that.
I'm a firm believer that, when creative inspiration does not strike, at least shovel what they ask right back at them. Then, you at least avoid doing something stupid, like disagreeing with a school philosophy.
We might be able to help more if we knew the school.
