Is finally completed and submitted online.
I am going to treat myself and my S (aka the gofer in this endeaver) to a special celebration dinner! Yahoo.
Anyone else think the Profile is a bit too much?

I hated it. I think a root canal would be more preferable. And I've found minor errors based on misinterpretation of just what the question meant. I'm not worrying about it until acceptances & aid offers (if any) come forth.

It was a nightmare of an experience, I agree. Surely, they can come up with something better.

Only one of his 6 schools required the Profile in addition to the FAFSA. I honestly would have pressed him to reconsider had that one NOT been his absolute first choice!

I did get a laugh when, on the LAST page, it asked the make, model of our primary car.
Come on now. So I suppose I should sell our decadent 2 year old Chrysler minivan and send the proceeds? Gee, they didn't even ask about our OTHER cars (as in the two rusting 11 year old junkers with combined 300,000 miles on them)!

Hope they let me keep my bicycle!

When you fill out the CSS for the 2nd year of college, it will be easier and make more sense---because you will have your completed tax return to pull numbers from (instead of thin air).

This year I'm listing a 27 year old car.

Just wondering (and a bit stumped) about what kind of estimates should be used for some of the questions.

For example:

Question 27a - Student's wages, salaries, tips, etc - School Year 2004-2005 (9 months)

If your student will be a freshman in college next fall, how did you estimate their earnings during '04 - '05, not knowing what or where they'll be working?

Question 27e - Grants, scholarships, fellowships, etc. from sources other than the colleges or universities to which the student is applying

Do/did/will you enter the amount of scholarships already earned, for example California's Governors Scholars Awards (aka Scholarshare)?

Question 27g - Amount the student's parent(s) think they will be able to pay for 2004-2005 college expenses

Do/did/will you base this on an estimated EFC, on your savings, or just pull a number out of thin air?
