What do you think about not so well off kids in feeder school?
Please do not flame me for my opinion. Since I see the importance of contacts, everyday in real life, I am curios about young man develop contact while in feeder schools. Most of people go to ivy league to make contacts. If they do not do this, any other school is equally good for education. I am sure ivy league admission is not the whole issue. If a boondog university will have all these rich kids with contacts, I am sure all brights kids will flock to boondog university and not to ivy's. My statement may be harsh but it is fact of life. More important is to make contact in the feeder school (any one can get 1500, 4.0 GPA, 750 Sat II averages). What I know that if one works for it, it is not that hard. In my humble opinion, it is better to develop relationship earlier than in ivy school.
Please tell me about what kind of relationship you develop while in feeder school. NYCFAN you attended Andover, please tell me your experience. I am thinking about my son to send to feeder school. Since their financial aid is based on need, it is greatly in our favor. My son is exceptionally bright and has expressed a desire to join a private feeder school like Miton or Andover. He met a lot of kids from Milton and Andover while he took CTY course and he has made some friends. So give me some feedback on how does a poor but bright kid does in feeder school. Are they welcomed by rich kids or they are despised being not so well off. ( I do not care about an ivy admission thing without contacts since the world is ruled by contacts, not by a person with a brain). If you can email me or post it, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
