SAT I V/M

650/800 first try
720/740 second try (real careless for math)

the disgusting part is that my total score only changed by 10.
Do you think I should retake to get a more competitive score or will most top colleges take my best v and m score...which is 720 and 800 respectively?or will they consider my best score for one sitting (second try)?
Please give me your views.
thank you very much!=))

they'll take the best individual V/M scores. So consider yourself having a 1520. ;)

Almost all colleges will take your highest V and highest M scores. UCs will only take the highest score from one sitting (in case u r considering Berkeley).

I question what colleges mean when they say they will "take" your highest m and v, even if from separate sittings. I'd be interested to know what Dave Berry thinks of these statements. The fact is that the colleges will generally see all your test scores, and since the adcoms are human (we think), won't they consider the fact that your M score went down, compared to someone who took it twice and got an 800 on the math both times? Perhaps I'm being paranoid/cynical, but I wonder if they REALLY don't even consider the other scores. Certainly if you're admitted, they'll report your score to US News as a 1520.

I suspect they do

I mean what if you decided to concentrate on v and TOTALLy slack on math and not do it AT ALL
and get V/M 800/200!!
of course no person would do that if they knew collegeboard is sending all the SAT scores.

btw U of Michigan takes composite or one sitting?Its state run rite?
