I am an international student and have 790 on Physics, 780 on Maths IIc, 720 Chemistry, Writing 640
Am applying to HYPSMC and was wondering I should retake the Chemistry given that I think I may do better. Does that really affect my admission chances that much?
Unfortunately Caltech +MIT require the Writing mark and I am not definite I can improve. I also don't want HYPS to see my new writing mark as there will be no score choice.
Should I send Caltech+MIT, all 4, or only writing, 790physics + Maths 780? Ie should I send them writing and Maths, Physics, Chem????

Any help would be appreciated...

I don't know about Caltech, but these are the instructions directly off the current MIT app:
"We require a full set of standardized tests: SAT I or ACT Assessment and ("and" is italicized) three SAT II Subject Tests - one in writing, literature, or history; one in physics, chemistry, or biology e/m; and one in math (level Ic or IIc). You should think about which subject tests would best reflect your preparation."
I didn't change the punctuation, which means that along with your Math, and/or Physics and/or Chem, you must supply MIT with a grade from an SAT II in either writing, literature or history. I'm not sure, but I think maybe the literature is more of a reading comprehension test, rather than knowledge of specific pieces of literature. Perhaps someone will have a better take on that.
Best luck!

Thanks for your reply NYmom
I think I will send MIT 640 Writing, 790 Physics, 780 Maths IIc which is all they require...
Adding chemistry 720 won't add anything will it, considering 720 isn't that impressive a score for HYPSMC...
Any idea about SAT II/I scores of international applicants eg. from the UK system where one specialises early in sciences or the humanities. or where I might find out about their scores??
Thanks
