what did you think? I found the passage about Paris hard. and what was the bilingual man's first language? i put french. dou you remember what you chose for the question "Il a vecu..." for that same paragraph

Why did my proctor ask, "Is anyone taking the French SAT II?" every hour? What's different about it?

By Tangerine (Tangerine) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 11:22 pm: Edit

I don't remember what I put for the man's first language (i think i put french but i'm not sure)...and the Paris passage was very hard. I think I omitted one or two of the questions on that passage. Do you know what the rest of the Il vecu question was? I vaguely remember seeing it but I do not remember what it was about! I hope I did well. I know I omitted six and probably got some more wrong. Do you know how many you can get wrong or omit and still get a 700?

I think that if you omitted six you can get about 14 more wrong and still manage a 700. Yeah I remember omitting two questions on the Paris paragraph.

I put russian as his first language...

There were a LOT of words I didn't know.

and the reason they kept asking if someone was taking the test is because they changed it and you couldn't just take the one from the book; there was a separate book you had to take it from

By Tangerine (Tangerine) on Sunday, October 10, 2004 - 12:45 pm: Edit

ohhh russian! i think that could be the answer...because wasn't there something about how the author grew up listening to his parents speak russian? i still don't remember which answer i picked though. there were a lot of words i didn't know too. i kept finding sentences that i clearly understood the meaning of but did not know what any of the answer choices meant.

OMG my proctor never said anything about a new book or asked if anyone was taking the french. i took the one from the book. what do i do?// this has to count for me

help!!!!!!!!

By Jsknicks (Jsknicks) on Sunday, October 10, 2004 - 05:36 pm: Edit

yeah but it said that he heard russian growing up but didnt remember a word of it...even though he heard it growing up, for a language to be your native language youd have to know how to speak it

some other questions that I remember...
the passage with the girl leaving the school i put independante, the sculpture dominated the village, that the women were sitting "devant leurs maisons"
for the first fill in the blank passage (with the women who wanted to become a professor) i remember putting "tenir" le coup?? wasn't sure though
anyone remember anything else?

and lilmermaide, i would call collegeboard...i dont know what else to tell you...unfortunately you had a bad proctor

Hi everyone-

I'm taking the French SAT II in November but I don't feel prepared at all. My French teacher absolutely SUCKS and when I took an SAT II practice test, I got a (ready for this?) 570!! How did you guys prepare? I seriously need to bring that score up by about 200 points! Did you find anything particularly helpful while studying? Thanks for any help!

By Tangerine (Tangerine) on Monday, October 11, 2004 - 06:40 pm: Edit

-Jsknicks
I got all of those answers for the questions you just listed, including "tenir" le coup

I really dont remember much from this test...I have no idea how to predict how well i did.

-lilmermaide, you really should call collegeboard, because my proctor said that if you took the french test that was in the book your score would not count
