PHEW~ i just got home from SAT test..(in Asia)
Math was easy...
but Verbal was hard,, especially analogy and critical reading...
I found that the 'duck/rabbit' passage was difficult to understand..
so, again, I had no time to finish every verbal section (1~3 questions left)...
any tips for finishing the verbal sections on time?

how was today's SAT for you guys??

By Here2insanity (Here2insanity) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 02:33 am: Edit

I agree! The duck/rabbit one was soooooooo hard!! But you know something very unfair? All the reading passages were recycled from the May 2004 exam!!! So everyone who took it in May thought it was a breeze....sigh... I hope they take that section out anyhow.

By Rebok2k2 (Rebok2k2) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 03:02 am: Edit

It was recycled from the January 2004 exam, and duck/rabbit was the experimental section.
because: there must be atleast one comparison passages, which was about antartic, two short passages, and last 15 min section.

By Here2insanity (Here2insanity) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 03:47 am: Edit

ooh really? hmmm how come all the May people were bragging about it... hey are you sure that's the experimental section???

By Geniezclone (Geniezclone) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 04:09 am: Edit

I thought it was from a 2002 exam b/c on the cover it says "copyright 2002." Anyways, I think the duck/rabbit passage must definitely be the experimental section b/c I've never seen any SAT passage w/ a picture in it. Plus, the analogy in that section was a little harder than the others. Well, I hope it was the experimental section though b/c it was the section I did worst on.

Here2insanity, are you sure the May ppl were specifically talking about the duck/rabbit passage, not the passages in the test as a whole?

By Here2insanity (Here2insanity) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 04:13 am: Edit

well, they told me that "every reading passage" in today's test was "identical" to the May exam. They were really happy - I don't think people would lie about things like that... but you never know =P

hey when do we get to find out which section is the experimental? don't they usually post it up on collegeboard?

By Geniezclone (Geniezclone) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 04:26 am: Edit

I suppose it couldn't be "every reading passage" b/c I don't think College Board would put the same experimental section twice. Why would they do that? The statistics they got from the first time wasn't enough? It's either that CB is trying to verify their questions for the second time and therefore losing precious opportunity for testing another set of questions, or that the May ppl didn't mean it when they say "every reading passage."

Anyways, I think we'll get to know a few days after this, if I'm not mistaken. I can't wait! :) If it turns out the duck/rabbit section is indeed the experimental section, then I'll finally have peace.

By Aoanonim (Aoanonim) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 07:14 am: Edit

I thought it was a relatively easier test, as far as they go from the 10RS. I was uncertain about a few questions in Sec. 7 CR (man named Washington), but I'm sure I did well.

The math was pretty easy too.

By Rebok2k2 (Rebok2k2) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 07:37 am: Edit

some say it was from may test and some say it was from january test.
i think it's because of regional differences.
i'm 100% sure this was the exactly same test from january 2004 in Korea, because more 20 people have witnessed it.

about the experimental section:
there were two sections which had 10 sentence completions, and a lot of analogy questions. therefore, one of them has to be the experimental section. there just can't be two exact same format section, and there must be atleast one dual passage!
evidently, last 15 min. reading was not a dual passage, which also indicates that the one with duck/rabbit passage was the experimental section.

By Rebok2k2 (Rebok2k2) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 07:40 am: Edit

now i'm kind of mad.
collegeboard has recycled this test 3 times!
how can they do this!!!!

By Geniezclone (Geniezclone) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 07:53 am: Edit

I agree w/ your reasoning rebok2k2... I forgot to consider the dual-passage factor. Now I'm happy :)

If the discrepancy you're talking about is really b/c of regional differences, then today is only the second time that collegeboard has recycled the test for each region, not three.

I took 2004 May SAT in Hong Kong and I got Hong Kong 2004 Jan SAT.
And I took the SAT today. CR today is not the CR I did in May or Jan.
So I don't think it's unfair. But maybe different region has different SAT questions.

By Ledyana (Ledyana) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 09:24 pm: Edit

i got duck/rabbit, women and artartica, washington, and the fruit rippening one.. ? so do u think duck / rabbit is the experimental one? what is the last question for that reading? (since i miss three questions in one of the verbal section)

By Paulhomework (Paulhomework) on Saturday, October 09, 2004 - 10:16 pm: Edit

Didn't i say they would recycle this!!! C'mon do you REALLY think college board people are writing tests for the old useless SAT when they should be working nonstop trying to come up w/ a whole new test!!!!

By Ria (Ria) on Sunday, October 10, 2004 - 03:38 am: Edit

Isn't is strange that they used the same test in Asia/Europe as well as in the US?
