the formulas for three paint colors are as follows
Regal purple: 1 quart blue + 2 quarts red
Leaf green: 3 quarts blue + 5 quarts yellow
Amazon: 3 quarts Regal purple + 2 quarts Leaf green
based on the formulas above, how many quarts of blue are needed to make 10 quarts of Amazon?

i know the answer, but i don't know how to solve it.

3.5?

1 quart blue and 2 quarts red make 3 quarts of Regal Purple.

3 quarts blue and 5 quarts yellow make 8 quarts leaf green

to make 10 quarts of amazon you need 6 quarts purple and 4 quarts leaf [two times the amount needed to make amazon in the instructions]

6 quarts of purple is 2 x the recipe above so you need 2 quarts of blue

4 quarts of leaf is 1/2 x the recipe above so you need 1.5 quarts

2 + 1.5 = 3.5?
