College Discussion Forums: SAT/ACT Tests and Test Preparation: Really dumb question
By Cherrybarry (Cherrybarry) on Wednesday, October 06, 2004 - 10:26 pm: Edit

Suppose you're a senior and you've already been accepted into college, but you still want to take one or two SAT II tests just to see how well you can do. Is this just being stupid or intellectually motivated?

lol, nothing can stop you from taking them but honestly, I can think of a lot more fun things to do than take SAT II tests ;)

Sometimes a high SAT II test can test you out of for example a language. A 650 in language for example can exempt you from fulfilling the lang requirement at certain schools and some schools will use SAT IIs for placement purposes.

If you just want to know how well you would do, it is much cheaper, and does not support the evil CB empire, to check out "Real SAT IIs" from the library, and just take the test. If you really want the authentic experience, take it at 8am and have a family member drone on in a boring voice for a while beforehand.

actually, some friends and i (we're seniors) wanna take the new sat just to see how we'd fare. is that a bad thing? any reason we shouldn't do that?

Why don't you just take a practice test to see how you'd do? Otherwise you really are just wasting time and money and need to find some new hobbies!! ;-)

I often take things like this even if I don't need them so that I can become an expert like Xiggi one day. I also check out all of the AP books and SAT books from the library so that I can figure out which ones are best and, even though I'm not really an AP prep book kind of guy, tell others.
