Right now I am registered for three SAT II's for next weekend (Writing, Math 2c, and US History). I feel I am ready for the first two and will get good scores, but that I won't on the US History. I think I can get my other two scores up even higher if I don't have to study for the history one. Can I cancel just the history test? And if I do, will it look bad to only take two? (I'm applying to Stanford, which recommends three...)

Right now I'm franctically studying everything I learned last year in AP US History (I got a 4 on the test), but I don't know if there's any point to it...?

you can cancel just the history. Do you have time to reschedule it for a later test date?

no, I can't take it later because I'm applying early Nov 1.

you can't cancel just the history, you can only cancel a whole day

Here is the information I think you're looking for. But you can look all this up yourself on CB's website.

Looks as if they "strongly recommend" 3 tests, one writing, one a math, and something else. If you have another subject you think you might do better in, you could substitute that for the history.
You can also email Stanford's admission office and ask them directly if 2 is acceptable. See what they say...

thanks for all the help everyone. well I've done 2 practice history tests during the last couple of days and got a 660 and a 690...not the greatest, but would it still look good to take it and get a score in that range?

If you're getting anything above 650 on practice tests I recommend that you take it.
BTW, you don't have to take all the tests you have signed up for. Also, Stanford doesn't say they require 3 SAT IIs, but you are pretty much dead if you don't have the 3 they want unless you have had an amazing accomplishment (like some kind of international award).
