I just received the letter that I am a Scholar in the NHRP... How much will this help with admissions to college since it said only 3400 are selected from a pool of 150,000. And that 3400 includes both Honorable Mention and Scholar...

What was your PSAT score? I am asking because it's really hard to find out what the bottom score is for recognition in that program. From what I've seen on-line, it seems the bottom score is around 180.

There are plenty of colleges that give major scholarships to National Hispanic Scholars. These include places like Arizona State as well as the Florida public universities. Some private universities also give National Hispanic Scholars major money.

Check in the scholarship section of colleges that you're interested in.

I had a 192 and became a National Hispanic Scholar. The only problem is, I'm only 1/8 Hispanic. So I told my college counselor and CB is removing me from the list. Referring to my certificate, they told my counselor to "shred it." (I was pretty offended by that.)

I'm 1/2 Puerto Rican and got a 219, and I didn't get a letter. Strange...

Did you mark yourself as "Hispanic" on the PSAT? Does your school know that you're 1/2 Hispanic? They have to confirm it back in April or May. Hope you get your letter soon.

Yeah, I always mark myself as Puerto Rican...and I'm pretty sure my school knows. I'll check with my guidance counselor.
