I'm doing a summer assignment for my Fall Semester (due the first day of school! Aug 9th! AGH!) AP Lit course, and part of it is 3 essays. My teacher in her typed instructions did not give a recommended length... what is about the expected length of an essay on the AP Exam???

As long as a piece of string, as my teacher used to say.

On the actual exam? I took the AP Lang exam, and I wrote about 3 pages (handwritten) for each essay question. Not quite sure how that translates to word processed. Just write as much as you feel is necessary.

Don't worry so much about length, but about content. Yea, cliche and all, but I'd rather read something short and really interesting than a bunch of fluff that makes you sound like an honors kid with a thesaurus.

For my AP Lit class, the summer essays have to be between 500 and 1000 words.

On the actual test, I wrote about 2.5 pages for each essay and I write kinda big. Got a 5.
