By Caliplaya03 (Caliplaya03) on Wednesday, July 07, 2004 - 02:59 am: Edit
I really think anything is possible. I mean it might take a little bit more effort from some ppl. But i have seen a jump from an 800-1450..and he wasnt like an extra bright kid..he just prepped with the book. So that goes to show that it's possible to get a high score if you put in the effort

hey guys I need tips to improve my score of 1280 to 1400+ by november. What books should I use? I keep making careless mistakes on math and my critical reading score is nowhere it should be. I already used 10 real SATs, what other books can I use?
By Smalltownworld (Smalltownworld) on Friday, July 09, 2004 - 12:55 am: Edit
I've been taking a SAT prep course this summer and we take practice SAT exams all the time. My first test was a 990. And then it raised to a 1190 and then 1230. I still have 3 more to go before the course is over too!
But I haven't taken the real SAT's yet though *bites nails*
I also knew a girl who took the same prep class and went from a 720 to 1340. She's at Baylor University now.

how much studying is required to get a jump that high?? my dad is like, when i was a little kid, i used to study 10-12 hours a day for a huge exam that would get me into college(this is in india by the way). if i failed these exams, i dont go to college. then he is like, you should do that too...in the SUMMER!!! waaaaah!
do you really think 10 hours a day will be neccessary to jump like 200 points?
i think i wil die of brain cancer of soemthing if i study that much....or maybe my head will just explode and science can use the minute pieces to make AI, then use my body (cadaver i guess) and i dunno....send it to another galaxy and ....ok noew im getting weird.. sorry. lost track...

hmmmm .... actually the exams ur dad is talking about requires about 10-12 hours a day for about 2-3 months to get into a good college, as for the sats an hour a day will be more than enough for a 200 point jump!!

hahaha I don't think that 2nd grade to 11th grade should count! haha but i went from a 1210 to a 1490 in 1 year. I guess that's not all that special. I think at least for me if you just look at the problems and practice them there aren't that many types its pretty easy to improve. I went from a 670 to a 780 on math and feel I should have gotten an 800 if i had managed my time more wisely.

And yeah, the 2nd grade thing shouldn't count, haha. I'm apposed to even middle school administrations. And besides, who even takes in 2nd grade!?!?

Ericlu87 -- I would recommend that book. Believe me, I wouldn't be getting 14-- on my practices if it wasn't for that book. Hell, I retook the PSAT today because I found the test booklet, and I got 75M 72V 69W from what I got originally, a year ago, 50M, 47V 47W. So yeah, it works, heh. Plus, they have amazing practice tests. Btw, what do you normally get on practices?

ahm, um, um,
i cant tell you right now, (there very low, and quite embarrassing to share), but if your really interested, check me out at tongos math class, they are there. let me just say this, there is a 280 point difference between math and verbal.
By Caliplaya03 (Caliplaya03) on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 - 09:13 pm: Edit
OMG your score is not even that bad. U probably dont want me to post it so I wont...but if you just work on your verbal a little bit...your score will improve.
By Tongos (Tongos) on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 - 09:25 pm: Edit
my low verbal was actually the result of me not being able to find a passion in the subject. I never read, and even for school, i wouldnt truly read the books. I've never wanted to learn new words or anything. and because i didnt have a passion, i didnt want to study, as a result, i got (you know) that score. i've taken it twice, i was thirty points higher on my second testing. and this was only due to math. my verbal on the second testing remained the same. theres nothing that could help me now in verbal, not even prep books, its to late. reading comprehension is too low.
