is it essential that you have to have had ap chemistry prior to taking the satII test in order to still get an 800?
and what are the best prep books if i didn't already have ap chemistry?

No, it is not essential. I took one year of honors chemistry and got an 800 using Princeton and Barron's. Out of the two books, I'd say Barron's was much better.
