does it look bad if I take the SATs only one time each? i hear that it'll just make me look like a lazy bum...

If you do well the first time you take it, why should you take the test again?
If you don't do well the first time, that's another story.

Dude, there is nothing lazy about not wasting time and money to take a practically worthless test twice. It would seem to me that taking it more than once just indicates that you and/or your parents are test obsessed freaks who need to get out and do something worthwhile in life.

No need to take again if you are happy with your scores. My son is happy with his May SAT I scores and June SAT II scores, and he's done.

I have a friend who got a 1550 (750 V, 800 M) in 8th grade, and decided he's going to pay the fee to unarchive it and just use that on admissions. So no, you don't need to take it again if you're happy with what you have already.
