1) How bad is the curve compared to other test dates?

2) I took the two collegeboard released tests on their site got 1540 and 1520 and another practice test got 1570. My verbal usually hovers low 700's on practices, I am going for atleast 1500+ with hopefully 1550+ on the real thing, my verbal scores so far are 740,720,770 and I'd really like to get 730+ on the real thing. Last time I took like a year ago got 650 800m now I want 730+v 800m. Should I take the test? Do I have time to raise about a 740ish verbal score to 750+ (for that 1550)?

As for your first question, I would recommend asking your friends and the people here how many they got wrong and what scores they ended up with. The fact that the CB does not publish April tests (to my knowledge at least) makes me think. But my guess is that the curve probably is not much different for April tests, if at all different.

As for your second question: I would say that you should take the test if you feel confident enough to do so, and you sound confident. The scores are kind of a "crap shot" as somebody else said on these forums. You could jump drematically (although the opposite may also be true). I would say take the test. But if you are a junior, dont forget that you can take them in your senior year, so there's no rush.

BTW...how did you prep for the verbal????

I've heard that the January and April SAT Tests are one of the easiest because those are the 'experimental' SAT's. If you prepare yourself, I'm sure you can get even better than a 750 Verbal score. I'm taking the April SAT's as a junior...and I'm scurred...

I just took a lot of practice tests from 10 real sats. anyways, I'll probably go ahead and take it. And this is really the last time I can take it, now I have a 1450 which is my highest, but I've already taken it four times. This is my 5th. The first 3 times I just took to see how I was doing early on in fish and soph years totally cold and scored in the 1300's and one 1280. Anyways, if I dont make 1500 or higher this time, I'm switching to ACT. Looks like I have no choice.

Dxiw --

You sound disapointed. Dont be. Considering the fact that your prep basically just consisted of taking a few practice tests, your score is actually fantastic. Dont be worrying about it. If I were you, I would only be upset if my prep was disproportionately high in comparison to my actual score.

no not at all. I actualy do want a 1600, after this attempt though, I've done very well on ACT practices, so I'm gonna take the ACT and shoot for a 35 or 36 if this doesn't come out 1500-1600 range. Of course the 1600 is my goal but its almost impossible.
