My sophomore year I got a 209 on the PSAT. Junior year I unfortunately dropped to a 201, meaning I probably just scraped the bottom for receiving NM Commended.
I got a 1500 on the SAT. Sorry, I don't have the individual scores for the 3 PSAT subsections, so I can't tell how many points I went up. If you don't get the type of score you were hoping for on the PSAT, don't worry a whole lot about it. In my case, the test wasn't that great an indicator. I got in the low 60s on Verbal and Writing when I took it. On the SAT I got a 790 and 800 for Verbal the first and second times I took it.

i went down quite a bit;
PSAT: 148
Verbal: 710
Math: 770
1st SAT: 1340
Verbal: 650
Math: 690
2nd SAT: 1440
Verbal: 700
Math: 740
My theory is that since the PSAT was shorter, I made less mistakes.

Granted, my Junior PSATs were significantly better than those from my Sophmore year; but I jumped 130 points in Verbal, 110 in Math, and 120 in Writing. Guess I was really, really tired that one Saturday at the beginning of Sophmore year.

Writing - 47
Junior SAT:
Verbal - 570

Writing - Still Pending
Yep, a 100 point gain on the Verbal, and 150 Point gain in the Math. So, a total of 250. So, yeah, if your counselor tells you that you can't improve much, that's . Seriously, you can even go from a 1000 to a 1500, if you have the right mentality. I went from 970 to 1220. Still lame, but quite good, and I plan to get a 1450+ on my Senior year SAT. Good luck, man.

Junior year I took the PSAT and SAT a few days apart.
PSAT Math: 64
SAT Math: 670
PSAT Verbal: 79
SAT Verbal: 800
I still think the PSAT was harder to score high on. Hopefully, I'll bump that math up a few points this fall without having a sharp decline in verbal...

Did poorly on PSAT because our school counselors' position on it is "the state pays for it so just show up and answer a few of them". My school is joke, our average SAT score is 850.

I did better on my PSATs than my SATs.
(both junior year):
PSAT, October 2003
760 Verbal
800 Math
720 Writing skills
SAT, May 2004
790 Verbal
670 Math
I'm guessing that's because I prepared a lot for the PSATs and was so bogged down by my full IB schedule in the spring that I didn't have any time to prepare for the SAT.

I didn't do any prep, it just occured naturally that I went up by increments.
