By Flashbackfl (Flashbackfl) on Friday, March 07, 2003 - 02:06 am: Edit

I am a junior in an IB Program with a GPA of 4.82, unweighted 4.0. I took the SAT I in January and got a 790 M and 780 V. This is my first try. Should I go for the 1600 or would that look obsessive/compulsive? Should I take the ACT or just the SAT II's? Please help..
BTW, I plan to apply early to Yale.

You should take the SAT II's because sometimes colleges use those for placements. You could take the SAT again if you wanted to, but your score would probably go down. Once you get that close to the top, there is almost no where to go but down. I got an 800 Verbal my first time, and the second time I got a 770---you see my point. On the other hand, it totally depends on the test date. If you take it in April, you might be going with a bunch of first timers so the curve would be lower and it would be easier to get a good score. I personally hate the ACT, I think that the SAT is so much easier. Plus, you're almost guaranteed to do well on the SAT II's, so don't even bother with the ACT.

dont retake unless you want the satisfaction of a 1600, because your scores will get you anywhere a 1600 will get you.
