Wow. After *ALL* those hours of studying I only get a 60 point raise in verbal.
By Dwerbowy (Dwerbowy) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 06:41 pm: Edit
same here! totally know what you mean. for the US history i studied my brains out almost everyday for 2 hours starting in the end of April and really felt that i was ready but got slapped in the face with a 710. and for the IC the friday before i took the test in the REAL SAT II's book and got a 780 but don't know wth happened between then and taking the test the next day. got a 650. and now my parents will spread this news to their 50 closest asian parents friends and talk about what a big disappointment i am and lecture me on how well their kids did. it's great, really looking forward it all.

i understand the asian thing. i think it's a cultural thing.
By Energy1 (Energy1) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:07 pm: Edit
Was the june verbal curve for suppose to be harsh? I probably just screwed up anyways.
Never got a lower score in any practice test.
By Nutriamorada (Nutriamorada) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:17 pm: Edit
first time taking the SAT, a rising (and lazy) senior, didn't study at all.
I'm so disappointed. I thought I was going to break 1400 for sure.
and reading CC makes me feel ten times worse, it's full of people crying about only getting a 740
By Mhawk177 (Mhawk177) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:18 pm: Edit
Can I ask what exactly you studied to get your verbal up 60 pts? because I could REALLY use a pt. increase, last time I had a 620 verbal and I glanced over some vocab... this time I got a 610
By Thermodude (Thermodude) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:24 pm: Edit
Nutiramorada...don't worry...a 1350's really not that far from 1400+....if you just keep on reading hard books/doing math problems...and keep up the prepping...you should be able to break 1400 by September. An increase from 1350 to 1400+ isn't too hard to achieve...people go from 1200's to 1400's in a matter of a few months.

just how horrible are these? i honestly want to cry
By Joshjmgs (Joshjmgs) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:43 pm: Edit
*high fives crypto*
700 coming from an honors physics, I didnt learn half of the information on the test.
I am taking physics, IIc (again, because I forgot to skip a row when I skipped a question, thus i was one off from 43-50, I thought this was was extremeley easy), and writing for the first time.
I was kinda excited for my 800 chemistry though...
But I seriously have to learn to bubble in ovals, I have a bad habit of misaligning them. It happened to me on my SATs. I was devastated with my score; eventhough it was still considered fine, it took a 150+ point dive from the 10 Real practice tests...
At least now I know what to work on over the summer :\
By Smiliekat (Smiliekat) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 07:45 pm: Edit
i had no increase in verbal.
By Domirican2005 (Domirican2005) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 09:12 pm: Edit
Sydney ... i have the EXACT same feeling as you. and i got pretty much the same thing ... except i didnt take bio ~ i took history. but good God, i thought they were bad ~ but not THAT bad. but we can always take it over agian. but i heard that if take it over again in november schools don't see it when applying ED ~ is that true?

580 on Math IIC, guys. ugh (disgust)
By Fusiachi (Fusiachi) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 09:45 pm: Edit
I'm mildy disappointed.
590 Math IIC. Knew I should have played it safe with IC.
650 Writing (I'm capable of more; I just don't get all the the trivial grammatical errors, or I see too many!)
770 Lit. That's a relief.
With a 1440 in SAT I's (800V, 640M), I was hoping for a bit stronger SAT IIs to help admissions chances. Odds are highly competitive institutions are out of the question...
Normally, I'd just plan on retaking in the fall, but alas, it isn't possible. I leave for Paraguay this summer for 6 months. What are the odds of SAT II's in South America?

650 spanish...and my practice tests averaged 700
By Taylor6465 (Taylor6465) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 09:49 pm: Edit
690 Biology E (82 percentile)
760 US History (95 percentile)
650 Writing (66 percentile)
I'm happy with the history, but are the others okay??
By Adidasty (Adidasty) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 10:02 pm: Edit
Okay I got an 800 on Molecular Biology, but only a 700 on math IIC. that isnt cool. is 700 on math IIC a good score?
By Energy1 (Energy1) on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 10:22 pm: Edit
Mhawk, if your weakness is reading comps, you will need a LONG term preparation. I always shoved advice that I should read more in general aside, but now I regret it. It is a FACT that people who have read all their life can easily get most of the questions for reading comp right.
Sentence Completion and Analogies can be improved in matter of weeks (2 months should give you a significant boost in these fields).
However I often found myself getting at LEAST a question wrong per passage no matter how carefully I checked my answers.
60 pt increase can defer depending on your score range. Raising a 550 --> 610 is not impressive but a 740 --> 800 on the other hand is.
By Mhawk177 (Mhawk177) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 12:00 am: Edit
my prob was more than likely in analogies and sentence completion... I have been reading a ton since like 5th grade.
By Astrix (Astrix) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 01:09 am: Edit
I got a 690 math
I thought I did really well in math.
By Iplayoboe (Iplayoboe) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 01:12 am: Edit

By Sydney22 (Sydney22) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 01:16 am: Edit
ok before applying to college just how many chances do we have to take SAT's? and how about early decision?? does this mean i only get one more chance??
By Mimi (Mimi) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 01:53 am: Edit
The SAT doesn't seem easy to raise scores. It's like, whatever you get, you're stuck with it. Which sucks!! Makes me mad! ARgghhhh
By Krbxtigerz (Krbxtigerz) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 10:21 am: Edit
got a 740 on chem and 630 on writing(i thought i broke 700)....
i should retake writing, but should I retake chem?? or just stay with it?? is 740 any different from like 760 or 770??
By Gameguy56 (Gameguy56) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 10:36 am: Edit
the curves in both math and verbal were rediculous. I got a dual 740 and it's really tempting to retake to get over 1500.
By Vesselina (Vesselina) on Saturday, June 19, 2004 - 03:51 am: Edit
Astrix, what is your percentile for math?
By Geoguy (Geoguy) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 - 03:29 am: Edit
I raised my verbal score 100 points from 540 to 640.
Since I didn't start preparing for the test until a couple months before the June SAT, all I got done was:
10 Real SATs (5/10 tests)
Word Smart (47/86 quizzes)
Easy Prep Flash Cards (250/750 words)
I saw another book on Amazon that looked interesting. It was the Word Smart Illustrated book. I bought it but haven't used it yet.
This was my third time taking the SAT, so I'm done. I regret not getting any prep done sooner. If I had planned to take the October one, I would have been able to finish up my prep easily.
By Benzinspeicher (Benzinspeicher) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 - 01:21 pm: Edit
"slapped in the face with a 710" what the hell is wrong with you? On SAT I, a 710 shows basically the same amount of skill as an 800. So don't b1atch about it!!!
By Obviouslyteal2 (Obviouslyteal2) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 - 02:50 pm: Edit
I don't know why some people are dissapointed... maybe I'm missing something but I was happy when I got a 700 (75 percentile) in Bio and 740 (91 percentile) in US History. Is this supposed to be dissapointing? Should I retake?
By Energy1 (Energy1) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 - 03:23 pm: Edit
Not saying 710 is bad but Benzinspeciher, according to your logic, 1420 is about the same as 1600 :-/
The difference between 800 and 700 is greater than 700 and 600 and so on.
By Obviouslyteal2 (Obviouslyteal2) on Sunday, June 20, 2004 - 03:31 pm: Edit
Well is a 700 Bio and 740 USH OK?!?!
