Wow, I only got a 680. Probably cause I only focused on one topic in the essay.

Bush versus Kerry <--- essay topic!! LOL..
Got the whole choices .. "People are composed of the choices they make or the choices they fail to make.." something like that..
I picked Bush v. Kerry, and about a student writing an essay on the SAT II, and the fact that any choice they make will determine how the outcome of their future lives are.

Used Kaplan for multiple choice.
Pulled my essay out of thin air. Five paragraphs, Intro/Body/Conclusion format. Can't beat it.

800.
TIP for future takers/retakers:
THINK OF YOUR ESSAY EXAMPLES BEFORE THE TEST!!
If you can think of some examples that fit at least 3 sample or practice essays, then those should be fine for the actual test. It spares you the thinking and outlining steps and you can use the full 20 minutes to write. That was my key.

Didn't study at all. Took one practice test in Barron's and got shelled by multiple choice.
I'm probably never gonna take this test again.

I'm rather disappointed in my 770. I'm very good at writing, so I didn't study, and that's my fault. I only studied for Chem(I got an 800 on that, though). 770 is sufficiently high that I don't have to take it again(there's virutally no difference between an 800 and a 770), and that it would actually look bad if I were to take it again.
But I got an 80 on the PSAT Writing! And an 800 on Verbal SAT I! Grr....
By Sandmanpb (Sandmanpb) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 08:45 am: Edit
It's funny how i got a 760 on the Writing PSAT section, a 740 on SAT 1 verbal, and then a 680 on SAT 2 writing. I didnt think it was that bad...
By Anothersuitcase (Anothersuitcase) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 11:09 am: Edit
800 (98%)
I'm actually very surprised--apart from the PSAT, I've never had any prep or practice with that particular test.
By Iceangeljt (Iceangeljt) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 02:10 pm: Edit
I got a 750 which is 91 percentile ... I'm surprised because my SAT I M score was 730 and my SAT I V score was 720 and both of those were 97% ...
Also, on the PSAT , I got 73 on the writing section and that was like 98 percentile.
Anyway, I'm happy with my score... not the percentile. :-/
By Irock1ce (Irock1ce) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 02:17 pm: Edit
PSATs are much harder to get high scores on. dont forget that each problem you get wrong on the PSATs... that error will be worth more than an error on a normal SAT1.
By Jrpar (Jrpar) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 02:22 pm: Edit
PSAT writing is much easier than SAT II writing (according to my son's SAT tutor).

Does anyone know how to find out what the subscore for your essay was? Or do you just have to wait until you get it in the mail?
By Esotericstorm (Esotericstorm) on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 08:02 pm: Edit
Wait until the mail comes.
I got a 790, 97%. I'm so freaking happy because I thought I had messed up big time. Yay!
