i got kaplan and barrons for extra review
i got a bio honors textbook for reference
i finished the kaplan sat 2 book a while ago, scored around 650-660 average on all the tests in the book...is that bad?
and why do i hear reviews that barrons is "bad" or not entirely relevant to the actual test...do they give you an overdose of information?

I also bought the Kaplan review book. I have to admit that the material or rather the question types are very very odd. After taking the Real SatII subject test in the blue book, I got a 800 with one miss. On the kaplan diagnostic test...my god i missed so many i probably got a negative score. Take that for what it is...

good to know that...got worried for a second..ok, so regarding question difficulty, kaplan is harder, however, what about content, did u find that its comparable or also out of whack?
barrons?
By Best_Wr (Best_Wr) on Tuesday, June 01, 2004 - 04:32 am: Edit
i don't know if kaplan's necessarily harder; it's just weird. Barron's seems more reasonable.
But it still has some irrelevant q's. If you've taken H. bio, you should be able to distinguish which questions are whacko.

u think its necessary for me to work through more books cause almost done with barrons as well
is reading the cliffs ap REALLY gonna help me out much?

Cliff's AP is my bible.

considering i have about 5 days left, and i'm almost done thoroughly reading (i go crazy) both kaplan and barrons...do u think i'm prepared...
should i read my bio honors textbook again??

Why are ya'll studying for this??? Just take it...As long as you have a good background in bio, you'll be fine!!! There is way too much info to learn it all for one test. And SAT IIs aren't really that important. I got a 740 and didn't open a book. And based on your posts, y'all are probably way smarter than me. So stop stressing and just take the test:o)

as much as i want to believe the previous poster, i can't force myself to calm down...it's hard

kk, sparknotes diagnostic test number 2: 690
bad right? (i'm shooting for 720-730 on the real thing)

Study with Cliffs, it's all you need.
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 12:49 am: Edit
what do you people think about the SAT 2 books that sparknotes offers for free on their website?
By Aim78 (Aim78) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 01:31 am: Edit
The SAT II books are good for practice tests, and for information on the format of the test.
For studying the material, use Cliffs.
End of story.

YAY!!! i got a 720-730(with rounding up) on the barrons test, u think i can get at least 700 on the real thing??
oh, btw, off of Real SAT's, i missed 4 total -1 point for 4 incorrect answers, that's 75/80 raw, 800
how's my progress??
By Aznsnake0307 (Aznsnake0307) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 08:44 pm: Edit
Wow, Barrons Practice Tests are ridiculously hard, so a 720-730 would means upper 700's

AP Bio --> enough prep for this SAT II?
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 01:34 am: Edit
probably, grab a specific test prep book and skim through it
hmmm...interesting 66/80 on sparknotes bio m diagnostic test, they say that's a 710, but other conversions place it around 750, what is it really??
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 05:25 pm: Edit
whoa...770 on the barrons test (13th edition, bio) E but i'm not taking E i'm gonna take M.
with a 770, do you think i can hit 700 at the least on the real thing, i heard the real one is a lot different
my goal is 700
***oh yeah, i used the scale that was in the barrons book, for specifics i left 5 blank, 3 incorrect***
By Mercury31 (Mercury31) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 05:48 pm: Edit
770 on a practice test is really good! i'm taking bio tomorrow too and i heard that barrons is harder than the actual test. i'm sure you'll get over 700 on the real one.
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 10:16 pm: Edit
i'm just gonna pray that the curve is not too tough (to get my target score 700)
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 10:32 pm: Edit
WTF??!!
i just found out that to calculate barrons raw scores it's
number right - number wrong
instead of
number right - (1/4) wrong???
By Metra (Metra) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 10:41 pm: Edit
What are you talking about man? Just go to sleep. Youve gotten well over 700 on most tests...
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Friday, June 04, 2004 - 10:48 pm: Edit
damn
if i take into account the equation that barrons uses my scores are reduced, not by much though
damn
E ones: 720 and 760
M: 680
got to take the other M, i'll be back

k, i'm confused, someone help me
we don't lose anything for a question that we skip, we only lose 1/4 of a point for incorrect answers that we actually filled in, right?
then what does it mean when barrons says (after each test) that correct - incorrect = raw score
why isn't it correct - 1/4 incorrect??
someone who has the barrons book clarify this for me, it would be greatlyy appreciated
By Altf4 (Altf4) on Saturday, June 05, 2004 - 12:46 am: Edit
so how would i score this test,(btw it's practice test 4 , last one of bio 13th ed. barrons)
73 correct
4 filled in, but incorrect
3 blank
this is total 80 questions
