most people take the SAT and some take both

Depends where you live. Most places take both. Typically more people on the coasts do the SAT and people in the midwest do the ACT.

Depends also on where you wanna go to college. Some colleges prefer the SAT and others prefer the ACT. Doesn't hurt to take both, though, but I would at least take the SAT.

Definitely take the SAT, and if you're score isn't what you're hoping for after two tries, do the ACT. That's what I did, and it really worked to my advantage.

Where I live, Illinois, theres huge emphasis on the ACT. Its actually required as part of another standardized test.

I only took the SAT to see how I'd do, and I ended up very happy with my score.

In other words, take both. Most schools will accept either of them, and you might do significantly better on one.
