Write to the Professor!.
Unless you do a web search and find faculty members at different Universities doing research in area(s) of your interest you will not be able to zoom in and request them.
You may seriously consider doing summer research under various Government funded projects eg NSF etc.I recomend go to www.google.com and do your search.

I am currently doing research w/ a professor. You can contact them by going to the university website, then going to the faculty list for the departments your interested in. Read about each profs research and email the one's you are interested in. Included information about your credentials, why you're doing this, and what is so interesting about their research. Give them your number and adress and ask to meet with them to talk about their research. While you are waiting for responses, I suggest going to a library and reading some of their published work in scientific journals. This makes you look really committed. Good luck.

jamu86, how has your experience of doing research with a professor been so far. What does he let you do & how do you contribute. Does he let you do real stuff or does he treat you like a high school student who will bring him his coffee.

Hi Science,
This is jamu86, but since i had to do the mandatory registration thing, they changed my name.

At all labs there is a chain of command, from the profs to the postdocs to the grads and then the undergrads. Profs rarely go out and do bench work. So, my prof got me working with one of his post-dcos. Right now I'm learning all the techniques so i do a lot of stuff. THis summer I'll be working on my own project. Everyone is really nice and supportive.

Let me know if you have anymore q's.
