I am already taking Calc BC next year. In addition to that, I can either take C++ (counts as a math course) or Stats AP. I don't really know much about Stats but it does seem interesting. Can someone tell me if you thought it was easy or not? Also, which course would you recommend? Both interest me, but I can only choose one. They are both full-year courses.

If you are looking at a math major, statistics would probably be favorable. On the other hand, C++ would probably be more helpful if you're working toward an engineering major.

WTF, C++ is a math course? Haha, weird.

I'm in AP Stat right now, and it's the second dumbest class I've ever been in, the first being World History and Geography I. It sounds like a math course, but there's so little math involved. Anyway, C++ is an easy language, and if you like programming, take that class. It's similar to a lot of other programming languages out there, so it'll help if you plan on learning any others.

I'm in my second year of an AP Computer Science course and there's hardly any math involved (it's very basic).

I know. I dont know why my school considers it a math course. i hear that C++ is easy to learn on your own. Is this true?

If your a computer geek :) and sit around the comp all day, you might be able to learn it alone. But I think when you learn languages, you need to be strong in the fundamentals, why a certain code works a certain way. I think its best that you take the C++ course at school if its the first language you are learning(other than BASIC). Its pretty interesting, and I seriously would not wanna learn stuff like pointers on my own. C++ is considered math because it has to do w/ logic.

Ok now I know about C++. Thanks. Now can anyone tell me how STATS AP is like and do you think it is good to know or not?

try learning Java.

Actually the AP Computer Science is switching over to Java next year,so kids at my school are taking it twice for twice the credit. I heard that AP Stat isn't that bad at all, not too hard, not worse than any other math class. Umm why aren't you taking calc?

By Jason817 (Jason817) on Monday, February 24, 2003 - 12:15 pm: Edit

I am. This is in addition to calc BC

You are taking AP Calc BC and have room for another AP math course!?! Impressive...

By Jason817 (Jason817) on Monday, February 24, 2003 - 08:43 pm: Edit

I can take up to 8 classes a year. English, math, history, religion, art, spanish, science. That leaves room for one more. I can leave it empty and have a 90 minute break every other day at school or I can fill it with Stats or C++.

As a senior, you'll probably want to only take 7 classes, but if you're feeling ambitious, pick up the extra class. How many APs are you taking already? If you're only taking AP BC, then pick up AP Stats. If you already have 3 or 4 APs though, I'd probably take C++ (if it's a low-homework load class) or just keep a free hour.

I am taking AP Physics, AP Govt, AP Calc BC. The rest are regular classes. I'm not sure how much homework there is in either class. Does STATS AP require a lot of work?

By Haiyaa (Haiyaa) on Friday, February 28, 2003 - 01:08 am: Edit

Stats is a useless class! It's stupid! STUPID! But no, I don't think Stat requires a lot of work, but I'm pretty smart so my opinion might be a little skewed...

stats is boring.
