I'm a sophomore considering taking the SAT soon. I'm not sure when to take it though... April, May, or June???? I know this seems horrible, but when is the curve more lenient, typically? I really want a good score. Especially on the Math section, since I'm not that hot when it comes to reading comprehension with the Verbal... I need a really score.... What do you guys think?

I would wait until next year bc I know that some schools only accept Junior and Senior year scores from the SAT I...

About the curves..... the curves aren't published until after the test so you'll have no way of knowing, unfortunately, whether the curve is lenient or not...

which schools only take jun/sen results? that's unfair!

i think most schools do. You shouldnt be taking it in sophomore year anyways.

There are a lot of varying opinions on this. Both of my kids took the Duke 7th gr. SAT, and then took (or will take )it every year 9th - Sept. of 12th. They honestly didn't mind and enjoyed seeing their scores climb. A diligent study of the Q & A afterwards revealed the areas in which they needed to concentrate their study. We wouldn't have made them if they hadn't been willing and a really good steak dinner afterward was all they requested. That's what worked for us.

wow i really didn't know that sophomore year scores don't count.... i really wanted to take it as many times as possible, and kind of get over with it........ oh well.

i don't see why in heck your sophmore year SAT scores wouldn't count...you took the test, right?

I was told sophomore year SAT scores are just for practice, and don't count!

acct, that would be the PSAT that you seem to be referring to. For the SAT, however, any test official test administration that you take during high school (9th through 12th grades) will appear on your official transcript.

Nope I'm talking about the "real", "official" SAT. Not the practice PSAT given once per year in october. This is what we were all told by the teachers! There are others here who were given similar info to what I was told.

I'm just the messenger! I don't make the rules!
