I didnt do so hot on the Dec SAT (710V/760M - 1470), so I took it again in Jan (740V/740M - 1480). My composite is 740V/760M - 1500. I know this is a decent score, but not compared to some of my friends (there was a 1560, 3 1590s and a 1600 from this Jan SAT alone!) The question is, should I take it again, and when. I am positive I can get a better math score since I always get 800 on practice and got 80 on the PSAT. With that, I could get around 1550. Is taking it for a 3rd time advisable? I'm aiming for some of the Ivies, Duke, Northwestern, Chicago, WUSTL, etc.

personally, i wouldn't....but if you really think you'll get 800 on the math.....well i'd really think hard about it. (talk to a teacher! or a conselor!)

If you aren't satisfied, take it again. Your score, however, is very competitive for any school.

I heard that after you take it twice, you're three scores are only averaged and you can't take the highest composite. Is this true for most schools?
