I took the SAT with a #1 pencil. Could that cause a problem? I thought not because it was softer.

lol....is this for real? they specify #2 for a reason you know...

The scantron doesn't read anything other than #2. (or so I hear) You are probably going to have to get this hand scored.
BTW- Why did you use a number 1 pencil in the first place??

Yeah, it's for real. I don't think it caused a problem, though, because, using those conversion charts, my SAT score of 1360 is equivalent to my ACT score of 31. (I took the ACT with a #2.)
But maybe something is wrong. I got a 34 on the ACT math and a 690 on the SAT math. Also, I got a 32 on ACT English and reading and a 670 on SAT verbal. Perhaps because the SAT does not account for my score of 25 in ACT science, it should have been higher?

the math on the two tests are very different...i wouldn't be surprised that one's higher than the other.

Don't worry, it reads a #1. The point of specifying #2 is to make sure it's dark enough. However, #1 gives you tons of erasure problems.

you morons. they say number two as a standard darkness of lead because they dont want all you weird artists using gray lead. basically, any darkness near #2 darkness is fine. what, do youthink that themachine has high tech cosmic photon #2 deectors on its laser beams? NO, it hs no idea what pencil u use, as long as its dark enough. just cause u dnt use #2 doesnt mean ur screwed.
note: that said, I still use #2. only a moron would use something differnt bcause the risk is too great:-)

"I got a 34 on the ACT math and a 690 on the SAT math"
The ACT math is 10X easier than the SAT math.

I got a 28 math on ACT, but a 720 math on SAT.

I think I'll just blame my score on my pencil. Obviously, the only reason I got a 1360 instead of 1600 is because of my number #1 pencil.
Oh, and I used a #1 because I like them. They write darker with less pressure. Also, we didn't have any #2's...
