I took the PSAT as a sophomore cold (without prep or study) and got a 203. Is that good, bad, etc.? How might I do as a junior with prep?
Thanks.

That's pretty good. I'm a junior this year and I got a 206. You're in the 96-97th percentile.
What did you get for each section?
I think you can improve your score a lot, though I don't know how you should prepare because I'm not sure if your PSAT will be different next year. With enough preparation you should easily be able to make the cut-off for the National Merit scholarship thingamajig in your state.

My score actually went down from sophomore year to junior year. My freshman score was maybe a little higher than that though, and I improved almost 30 points my sophomore year.

Uber: Are you saying you got a perfect score on the PSAt? The why I'm reading your post, you got a score higher than mine and than increased it by 30 points, giving you around a 240. I'm I misreading it?

Actually most people I know improved a ton between sophomore and junior year. Like I got 199 as a sophomore, and then 230 as a junior and 1590 on my junior SAT. I had a very good class (AP Euro) that helped with reading skills and maturity between then. That's what I think is needed, not pure test prep.

You will definitely jump, especially if your verbal score and writing score in 10th grade is (relatively low). In 10th grade I had a 63-75-76 breakdown but I improved to 73-80-80 for a 233 for my junior year, and 1480 SAT (740-740). You will definitely improve to at least 220, if not more.

hey im a sophomore this year and i got a 207 which is pretty much the same as what u got, and people tell me thats really good for a sophomore and that im virtually guaranteed to be a national merit finalist. So good job!

a 203 for a sophomore is very competitive. depending on the size/quality of your school you're probably in the top 10/20, right?

i'm a sophomore and i got 214, but i heard they're changing the psat in october to be more similar to the new sat. any truth to that? i'm gonna miss those qc's and analogies....

It is true. The only thing thats not going to be there is the writing section from the new SAT. I took the PSAT as a sophomore and did really bad. I'm hoping that this new test will help me improve my score
