OK so the AP is on Wednesday.
I'm self studying this subject and was supposed to be doing 8 pages a day of Barrons for the last two months or so but I COMPLETELY procrastinated so I have 150 pages left to learn, plus studying everything lol.
First of all, any suggestions?
Please post whether you're self-study or taking the course, whether you finished the cirriculum. what books ur using to study, and how far along in them you are.
Also, if you've already taken AP World, PLEASE post any helpful tips, etc. Esp. what to do in the last 3 days before the test....

hey,
im taking AP World History this year and we have finished our ciriculum. Im using Barron's and reading it all. I'm on chapter 23 and the exam is in about 4 days?
Have u seen the AP Exam from 2 years ago?
College Board released it this year and i have 1 word to describe it : EASY.
Seriously, it felt like some state standardized test.
I'm just worried about the essay portion. But they will be very lax becuase its only the 3rd or 4th year this class has been offered so they are instructed to be leniant.
Hope that helps
If you have any more questions, just reply.

Titanz - thanks, you have NO idea how encouraging that is to hear.
No I hadn't seen the one up on College Board, I'm going to go get that now.
haha I'm on chapter 24 =)
I guess I'm extra insecure b/c I've never even taken an AP before, forget about self-study (I feel like if I'd taken the course certain things would be stuck in my head already.)
The AP World test is also sandwiched inbetween an AP Spanish test Tuesday and a AP US test on Friday...fun stuff...
I'm especially worried that I'm trying to cram two different sets of history in too short a time.
Anyhow, thanks!
If anyone else is taking/has taken AP World, please post!

Don't use the Barron's book; too much extraneous info, and its not gonna help. Instead, use the Princeton Review book.

ok. here is my situation.. my teacher is a complete douche and he has only taught aound 50% of the cours so i have to do the rest as a self study..... and i am aiming for a 5. i have finished READING the barrons book, but im sure i forgot a lot of stuff cuz its too detailed and im now reading the pton review..
im just concerned with the essay.... they might be too hard. and onlt 10.6% of ppl got 5 last year.. wut do i need for a 5? for mc is 70 % and essays over 6 enough?

Is the mc focussed more on trends, or specific details?

I took the exam the first year it was offered, and my class wasn't even AP. Honestly, it was not that hard, and I didn't put that much studying into it. Up til the last few days, I only did what the class did in class. For the last few days, I borrowed three other textbooks and read them all (skimmed, actually), and felt that I at least had an idea of what was going on, and got a 3. Focus on ERAS, and World History AP = how Europe affects the rest of the world. Good luck! Also, the SAT II World History test was MUCH harder. Then again, the AP test is also focused on specific details, although it's not quite as...scrutinized, I guess. As I recall, Change over time...how Japan changed its foreign policies...Compare and Contrast- I compared Japan and China to its trading history (you have several to pick from), and DBQ...something about trade in the Renaissance in Europe. Good luck!

WUT? U READ THREE TEXTBOOKS?? omg. thats crazy... are you kidding? ppl have to read THREE text books or skim them to get a 3? omg...
and wuts ERAS?

to the kid who said the AP test was easier two years ago, it will be harder.
1) all AP exams are getting harder and more detailed every year
2) AP World was a new course so they wanted to be easy on kids/teachers as it was a new experience.
See my other post in AP euro for my .02 on how to do well on AP tests

Let's put it this way : what do we need on mcq and essays to get a 5? And how much studying will be needed if we want to get that score? is 15 hours of revewing enough?

I think mcq and essays are weighted equally. AP World is like most AP's: about 114-117/180 is a 5.

one more thing, are the rubrics for the essays included in the test? I have the peterson's book which is supposedly the 2nd best after princeton but it doesn't say a thing about the rubrics for the essays. please answer.

which is more realistic, peterson's or barron's?
couldnt find princeton review
i've still got 55 more pgs in barron's left to teach myself, then ima try a practice test.
which one should i use?
