I am applying to MIT. Strong grades, Ec's, etc. , but still a stretch to get in. My question -- with SAT1 scores V750, M780 would anyone take again to try for the big 800? Does an 800 stand out that much above 780? thanks for any thoughts

Obviously, he does have a life. His question is also legitimate. Please treat fellow posters with a bit more respect.

Take it again for ammusement. :P I didnt like the looks of '1560' on my app so I just did it again and got 1600. Much nicer number, I must say.

I wouldn't. Unless, as HOpeful said, it's for pure amusement. In terms of looking better on an application, there's virtually no difference. How many times have you taken it already?

Well, I don't know about him having a life or not, but he is worrying about things that are unworthy. 780 is 1 question away in Math SAT1 from 800. Remember: bubbling in 'A' instead of 'B' will not affect your future scientific discoveries at MIT.

This was my first taking.
I knew this sounded like a ridiculous question, but my college counselor(!) actually recommended retaking. I thought she was crazy, but I did want some confirmation. thanks
