How are you supposed to grade free response questions in practice exams, and how many should I be getting right to get a 5 on the BC? I get 80-90% of the multiple choice answers correct so what should I be getting on the free response questions??
P.S. How are free response questoins weighted? are they one half the test, or just a third or what?

The free response questions are graded according to a specific rubric to each question (there's no general system). The free response questions together are weighted as 50% of the test. I think about 60%-65% on the whole test is a 5.

if you're getting 80-90% of the MC right, then its almost certain you'll get AT LEAST 70% of the FR right(probably more, I find MC to be WAY harder).....5

Free response is soooo much harder!!! at least for me.... but i agree, if you're getting 80-90% of the mc, you should have no worries about the fr part.

dude....MC's are the HARDEST for the Calc tests...both AB and BC....seriously....i know people who get like 38% on the MC, and around 80% for the free response.

If you're doing FRQ's from recent years (1999 or later) the rubrics are on the APCentral site.

if anyone is interested in buying a book with 15 years worth of actual free response questions, plus solutions, go to:

for AB, I thought the MC's were easy. While taking BC, I thought the MC's would be pretty much the same difficulty but apparently, it is MUCH MUCH harder than AB.
