I got a 1440 (710 V and 730 M) on the Mar. SAT.
I took the PSAT's twice, got a 1390 on the second one.
What i want to know is, will it make a difference to colleges if I take them again and get low 1500's?
How hard is it to raise scores in this range?
Or is it more impressive just to take them once?

I'm wondering the same, actually. (I just took the SATs for the first time and got a 1480.)

If you think you can do better, then go for it! 1480 and 1440 are high scores though, it just depends on what schools you are looking at. Its funny how I was younger and I used to gasp at the word "fourteenhundred" whenever someone said someone else scored it, and now Im scoring that on practice tests and im not content even though I should be!

What I'm also asking, is how big of a difference does a 1440 vs 1500 make to college admissions

I'm wondering that same thing, is it really worth it to take it again? I don't think I'd get anything over 1500

1430 (780 M 650 V).. Wondering the exact same thing. It's damn hard to raise V score above 700. I can definitely get 800 (or close to it) next time.

1500 here <-- first time taking it
Should I retake?

I'm having the same dilemma as all of you. I got a 1440 on the March SAT, but I have a 35 on the ACT. Should I even bother taking the SAT again, or should I just count on my ACT score to carry all the weight?
I guess I want to take them again, just because I still think I can do better. Only problem is that I'm taking the SAT IIs in June, and depending how well I do on those, I may want to take those again instead.
I guess my suggestion to all of you would be that if you even have the slightest doubt in your mind that your scores aren't good enough, and you think you can still do better, take the SATs again. It really couldn't hurt, and all you're sacrificing is $20 and a Saturday morning of sleeping in.
