I was just wondering if anyone knows any good outrageous stories about kids and what they have done to try and win over the admissions offices at various schools. If you have a good story or any ideas on how you would go out of your way to make the school know that you are "extra-special", please share!

Application gimmicks are the ones you hear about most - sending the app in an unusual container, filling in the blanks in orange because that's the school color... Sending food items to the admissions office...
I don't recommend these... If you want to try a stunt, be sure it's really clever and original. Otherwise, it's likely to backfire.

Heh, I'd say you don't have to look any further than these message boards. I mean stand back for a second and look at some of these applications everyone's obsessing over. Does it really make an ounce of sense for someone who is convinced they want to be a molecular geneticist to spoon-feed geriatrics 9 hours a day? I mean think realistically, how many people who get themselves a BS MS MD PHD from an Ivy League are going to give a crap about inner-city <... small snip ...> schoolchildren the second they start tasting their half-a-mill salary?
