Can someone clarify how the sat curve is made. I heard before that it is made before the test. Does this mean they judge its difficulty and base the curve on how difficult CB thinks it is? Anyone care to clarify this stuff. Anyway to predict the curve for the jan 24 sat?

We won't know for sure until we get our scores. Must have patience.

still no body answered my question how is the scale made

By Kyle8744 (Kyle8744) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 05:38 pm: Edit

i think i read somewhere that they have some people take the test a while before it is given to students and they make the curve depending upon how this test group did.

i think it is the experimental section that sets the mode for later, or is it this, sat. something like that

By Kyle8744 (Kyle8744) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 05:55 pm: Edit

slacker: because they probably have to sign a legal document and would get sued off their arse if they revealeed anything.

By Iamstupid (Iamstupid) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 09:56 pm: Edit

what if you ran out of the building while taking the sat and posted them online, could htey sue you for that?

I'm pretty sure at least a good portion of new questions come from experimental sections on other SATs. They judge how difficult the quesitons are based on how well students do on these experimental sections of SATs.

one of my teachers that was considering working for ETS told my friend and me that they make the test, then judge how hard the questions are compared to others and make a curve accordingly. kinda vague and weird, no?

I heard that the curve is the same or similar to the June SAT?
