Read as many books as possible.
Honestly, it's the best way to improve your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills (in my opinion).

Hey Reeses i got the same exact scores as your 700 math, 640 verbal. Luckily i got 800 previously on my math so my combined = 1440
My verbal pretty much sucks. 640 is the best i got so far so i can't help with that. If you really want a 1400 you could try to improve your math score to 800

USE KAPLAN VOCAB LISTS. I swear, thats all you need. for the sentance completion, and some analogies... (most analogies are hard, not because of the vocab, but because you fail to see the bridge)

KAPLAN VOCAB LIST RULES!
590V to 730V
kaplan in my opinion is better than barron's, and has fewer words (2200).
mika, those of us who don't read (myself inclued) need word lists, so that we can be at you readers' level, without even having to read!

1. Her use of religious language, such as “…make possible their self-direction and salvation” and “Full and divine expression”. The key words that make such phrases parallel redemption are “salvation” and “divine”.
2. Because his sexual views were not based solely on science but on an intensely help personal belief system and he relied on unrepresentative samples that included a disproportionate percentage of sex offenders and other deviants.
3. His idea of the search for the “ultimate orgasm” which became a popular fad in the human potential movement.
4. Sexual utopianism is the idea that “man is innately good and can lift himself by his bootstraps into an infinitely better world”. A clear example of this is in Robert Rimmer’s novel “The Harrad Experiment”, which tells about how a group of college students randomly paired up with other students.
1. The myth of Science Savior states that “The universe started out about fifteen billion years ago with the big bang; our solar system was born about seven billion years ago. Eventually, life appeared in the chemical broth of the ancient oceans, evolving first into simple microorganisms, then into higher, moiré complex forms, and then finally into human beings.” Humans are the apex of evolution, with the intelligence to control nature and bend to serve our purposes. The solution to our social problems therefore lies in our own hands. Through our ever advancing science and technology, we will save ourselves.
2. The Theological Stage – where people seek supernatural explanations for evens
Metaphysical Stage – where people explain the world through abstract philosophical concepts
Scientific Stage – where people find truth through scientific experimentation
3. The Escalator Myth creates the expection that change will always be for the better. This explains why some scientists reveal a disturbingly uncritical acceptance of genetic engineering. But clearly, change can be either an improvement or degeneration.
4. It leads us not to a glorious earthly utopia, but to a fantasy world escape from the planet and from the horrors that this same technology has created.
1. Existentialism is the idea that the world is all there is and therefore our existence is all we have. There are no divine judges or controllers. This belief arose when European intellectuals experienced being shocked out of its complacent optimism by the inescapable reality of naked evil.
2. Courage of despair has redefined the word courage as being the willingness to face facts; such as humans are insignificant and their “existence is an accident” in a purely scientific, physical world.
3. Sociobiology – an attempt to explain what evolution implies for human values. It has moved far beyond true science because it is impossible to discuss values without stumbling onto the most basic religious question. It also reduces humans to machines that carry out their orders. This is a worldview in which genes become the deity, that is the ultimate creators and controllers of life.
4. Sociobiology expresses philosophy of despair by embracing death. “One might think that upon hitting the dead end of despair, men and women would be driven to return to the Creator. But, alas, although it is true that “our hearts find no peace until they rest in God”. The basic human instrict is to flee him for finding God will clost us our cherished autonomy.
