what *exactly* do they do when your score is 'flagged'? if your score improved from 1000 to 1500, what can they possibly do?

By Jason817 (Jason817) on Monday, October 13, 2003 - 06:50 pm: Edit

if it goes up 250+ pts, I think they hand check your scantron and see if the handwriting matches for each test you took or something.

Ummm... handwriting on the scantron? Do you mean the part where you write the "I affirm I am me" stuff?

By Gidejet (Gidejet) on Monday, October 13, 2003 - 07:10 pm: Edit

What do they do exactly? Because I think my score definately improved more than 250 points since I last took it. I hope they don't think I cheated on it (I didn't). Do they withhold your scores? Or contact your school or what? Now I am kind of concerned.

Yeah, I think so. Also, if it's red-flagged, don't they tell you that you've been red-flagged?I heard some kid appealed his red-flagged and ETS apologized for it.

gidejet, don't stress. my test was "flagged" or whatever the term is because there was a dramatic increase from when i took the test as a freshman to qualify for a summer program to my junior year score. i got it back later than everyone else did. prior to receiving it, ETS wrote saying that my scantron was being checked by hand. they didn't specify the reason but i later learned that it was because i went up 250 somewhat points.

my school wasn't notified or anything like that. i'm pretty sure jason is right; it's rather routine.

do they check your scantron or SAT booklet?

i purposely tried a different method of bubbling in this time~!!! my crappy handwriting for the certification part should be the same, though

isnt it 350 points? that you get "flagged."

By Centimetre (Centimetre) on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 - 08:51 am: Edit

They don't flag for an increase from when you took the test in seventh grade, right? ... Oh well, it'd only apply if I got like a 1600, which isn't possible anyway =_=;

By the way, how much will this delay one's score report? I can't afford to not have this score for my Columbia ED.

I hope it's 350 and not 250.

Okay I did you all a favor and called the College Board. They told me that if one goes up 300 points on any section (meaning math or verbal) then it's "investigated". So this means that as long as you got at least a 510 on your first test it won't happen! It is NOT 300 points total. It is 300 points for math or 300 for verbal. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

By Freudboy (Freudboy) on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 - 06:27 pm: Edit

i went up at least 750 points this test, how are they going to 'investigate'?

By Pablokims (Pablokims) on Sunday, October 19, 2003 - 03:31 pm: Edit

In october SAT 1, there were two different formats. One had math as a last section and one had verbal as a last section.
Were the problems on october SAT same although they had different forms? I know that the section orders could be different but they also can have different problems? or they can have different orders of problems is same sections?
How was it in october?

Lol, Pablokims, why does it matter? Thinking a way of copying answers from a neighbor or something? =p
