Ahmad has containers of 2 different sizes. The total capacity of 16 containers of one size is x gallons, and the total capacity of 8 containers of the other size is also x gallons, and x > 0. In terms of x, what is the capacity, in gallons, of each of the larger containers?

A- 4x
B- 2x
C- x/2
D- x/8
E- x/16

Just plug in easy to use numbers. In this case let x=16.

16 of the first size can hold 16 gallons.

8 of the second size can hold 16 gallons also. 8 large=16 gallons. large = 16/8 gallons each. X was equal to 16, so the answer is x/8 gallons.

the capacity of the two containers: a and b.
16a=8b=x
obviously b is bigger than a
so b=x/8

So this girl obviously 's got 2 kinds of containers -- now u should notice that since 16 of the 1st type hold the same quantity as 8 from the other type ,that is x...then the one that is less "represented" holds more...so it's the bigger one...then its capacity is = x (the whole thing it can hold) divided by 8(the # of containers)...
So x/8
