I am new to this forum...so be nice ok?

My highest real SAT score has been a 1290.(combined) My highest practice test has been a score of 1350. V: 650 and M: 690, but mostly most of my tests has been between 1300 to 1330.

I am studying about 6 to 7 hours a day. I think I know most of the Gruber's, Kaplans, and Barrons' wordlists. It seems though that I have hit a plateau. I am taking the SAT test on October and I NEED to pass a 1500. Am I dreaming? Or is this possible.

They say that getting going from a 1300 to over 1400 is the hardest and requires the most amount of studying. Is this true?

This is how many wrong I got in my last prac. test.
MATH
Section 1= 21 correct - 4 wrong
Section 3= 13 correct - 2 wrong
Free Response - 8 correct
Section 6= 8 correct - 1 wrong - 1 omit

VERBAL (no omits in any verbal section)
Section 2= 2 analogies wrong. I got all SC and CR correct
Section 4= 1 SC wrong - 4 CR wrong
Section 7= 4 CR wrong

In total I got 11 wrong in the whole verbal part of the test and my score was only a 670. While in the math, I got a 650. When I go over math sections, I can solve all of them, but during the test, my mind seems to blank and fall into the ETS traps. How do you people tackle with the anxiety?

Well. this is becoming long, so I will ask you for last question. How can I improve my Verbal. I read a lot and I have every prep book imaginable. Gruber's, Peterson's, Kaplan 1600, Barrons Math Workbook, Barrons (21st Edition), not to to mention the 10 Real SAT's. As you see, I seem to be doing ok...but thats the problem, I figured that I need to be flawless in math to get at least above a 770 and I can only get about 5 wrong in the verbal to get above a 740. Which in total would equal a 1510. I have to quit doing ok and I have to start doing "awesome."
Please help me. What final push did you guys do to get over a 1500.
By the way, is there anybody in this board who has gotten the "elusive 1600" I have never met anybody who has gotten a 1600. Is a 1600 even possible?

Any schedule plans are welcome. I am willing to study about 12 hours a day if I have to.

I think the problem here is studying too much......6-7 hours a day of only SAT stuff-is a lot !!!!!
Go out, take a break, freshen up and then see yourself cruise through without falling into any pitfalls.

Thou enjoyeth Old English mate? I do not allocate a lot of time in my studies, although what you're doing 'tis good all the way sir.

I recommend thee to relax and enjoy life. Many people have elucidated that reviewing the mistakes that thou made will help improve your Scholastic Aptitide Test score.

OK! No more posts about that I should enjoy my life. Do not worry that I am not enjoying my life. It is not like I am an eremite, who dissipates his time in interminable SAT questions. Keep in mind there are 24 hours in a day, and I am only studying 25% of a day to study SAT. I am not a pariah, that I can promise you. Besides, what gave you the impression that I do not enjoy studying?

'tis is a contraction of "it is." You are using as if it means "is," Since you said

Rule 1- dont overdo the posts using SAT vocab
Rule 2: yes it is possible to get a 1600, and yes there are ppl on this board who have gotten it but may not be willing to openly say they have.

Math Prep: Be careful and think structuredly, once you get around a 690 you are probably thinking in the right way.
Verbal: Stop with the words! Try to develop some final strategies to keep your SC/Analogies x low. Since you read alot, CR should be easier - try to get the general picture of the passage, and for vocb in context questions read a sentence above/below the key sent. to get the mood of the meaning.

My sincerest apologies about the SAT words. I am not trying to show-off or anything, I try to use a lot of SAT words while I am speaking and writing so that I can get the gist of the meaning. I know most of my words in a passive way.

the hardest leap isnt from 1300 to 1400. the hardest leap is from 1500 to 1600. at that point, things get interesting. then again, most will argue that 1500 is job well done enough. i'm inclined to agree.

bump = bring up my post. i owuld suggest omitting a tad more. if you omitt maybe 5 instead of 1 you might increase your score. just dont go over board and omitt every other question (like i did my first time)

Well, it is no secret that Serene got a 1600, I don't think she minds my divulging this fact (most of the old members already know, and probably won't take new members long to find out either). As long as I don't reveal to the board where to find her picture, then I'm safe.

In response to the original post, ah-hem. What year are you? If its not too late, take AP lang&comp to work on your CR, that seems to be your problem. Also, practice reading boring stuff and asking yourself, "Self, what did I just read about". Take your time on the test reading the passages carefully, if you try to speed through, you will have to read it twice and it will take more time. These verbal tips popped me over 1500. Serene once posted that for math sections, take practice tests and write down stupid mistakes you make. THen, when you see a similar problem on the SAT, it will be a red flag. I thought that was a really good idea.
