Sorry if this has been answered before, but which AP courses are generally considered the hardest, not considering factors like teacher ability, amount of study guides present, etc...?

By Jason817 (Jason817) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 12:26 am: Edit

Well I really can't say without considering teacher ability because that matters a lot.

I'd say the hardest is AP US History BY FAR. Too much to know for one freakin test.

Well, so far i've only taken euro, english lang, spanish lang, psych, chem, american history, and calculus ab. i've gotten 5s on all but euro and english (both 4s). personally, i liked ap american, calc and chem the best because its very concrete. its right or wrong. but with english, half the test is analysis. so basically, if u pick up a different spin from the essay that the readers dont agree with, you're wrong. i mean, they have a rigid rubric. it doesn't make much sense to me. hope this helps!

Yes. AP English is HARD. :(
I usually do very well in English throughout high school but when I hit AP English I started getting 80% on tests *_* I got VERY VERY lucky on the test. Actually I think I am a lucky person. Getting lucky on two AP tests is like incredible! ^^

I think the AP Latin test (s) are the hardest.

how come ap english is so hard? is it the grammar.. the essays... the reading comprehensions? yous guys are scaring me bec. i am going to take this year :/

By Serene (Serene) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 02:32 am: Edit

AP English is not about grammar. The analytical essays are different from any essay you've written before, and the reading is way harder than SAT reading passages *_*

I read somewhere that Chemistry is considered one of the two hardest AP classes? Does this have merit, and if it does, which class is considered to be the hardest of the APs, above Chemistry?

By Serene (Serene) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 03:02 am: Edit

I don't think so. At least not for someone who's taken honors chemistry and really liked it.

Methinks all the APs are hard except for World History :)

Yes, Chemistry is considered one of the hardest

What about art history... Gardner's Art Through the Ages is like a brick-heavy well over thousand page book

I heard Physics and Calculus and then Chemistry are the toughest, relatively speaking.

im taking APUSH next year and is it really that hard? one of my friends took that class, got an F and got a 5 on the exam w/o studying.

By Jason817 (Jason817) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 05:29 pm: Edit

Either its really easy or really hard. I thought it was hard as hell so unless you like memorizing tons and tons of useless info, it's gonna be hell. I got an A in the class and a 3 on the AP test

By Clickspring (Clickspring) on Thursday, August 14, 2003 - 05:48 pm: Edit

- Physics C (Calc based physics)
- Calculus BC (test on two semesters of college calc that requires a lot more than regurgitation demonstrating ability to do the calc operations)
- Latin (uh, translating latin)
- Chemistry (semester of college chem, a fresman attrition course anyway)

AP English is different than the typical English class... which can make the class difficult. Although the essays were pretty easy the handle (a lot of it is analytical) the multiple choice questions seemed to be the harder part of the test --- since there is only ONE right answer (even though the other answer choices may work as well)

AP Physics B has a lot of information to cover --- much of which have no relationship to one another.

From what I have heard foreign languages tend to be the hardest AP's. Followed by Physics and Chemistry. History AP's tend to be on the easier side. I got a 5 on APUSH junior year and a 4 on Euro sophomore year. Basically its just memorization.

i heard AP Chem and Physics C are the hardest APs, based on how hard the exams themselves are and how much those classes require you to apply and understand. Also, Calc BC / Multivariable Calculus are very hard classes, the latter is actually for those who have completed the normal math AP sequence in their school ahead of time, and is offered where applicable.
