1. wrong answer choices
2. let's say the fraction is r. after the first bounce ball reaches 192*r, after second bounce reaches 192*r^2, after third bounce ball reaches 192*r^3 = 24
r^3 = 1/8
r = 1/2

thanks, serene for your help on number 2. I just checked, my book again and those were the answer choices given for #1.

See pg. 371 in 10 Real SATs 3rd Edition; Nov 96 tst, sec 2, #8

but i guess it could be a misprint...

By intuition the answer is Art earned 2.50 less than Bill. So i went and checked 10 Real SAT's. You didn't copy it correctly. I have second Edition, so maybe 3rd is wrong.

A. Art earn 3/4 of what Bill Earned
B. Art eard 17.50 more than Bill
C. Art earned 2.50 more than Bill
D. Art earned 2.50 less than Bill.
E. Art earned 17.50 less than Bill

The answer is D.
x is bill's earnings x+y for two days art's is x-10 + y+7.50 = x+Y bill and x+y-2.50 ARt
