I took the SAT I's and did a lot worse than I thought. I got a 1200 on SAT and only a 27 on the ACT. I only have one more chance to take the next ACT/SAT in October so I was wondering what you guys think I should do. I could take both the SAT I and ACT (been studying all summer) or take SAT II and ACT. I was thinking about going to a public tech school, so I would be taking math and physics parts of the SAT II. Thanks.

In your case, I would recommend that you focus on the ACT. Because if you take the SAT, then you will also have to take the SAT IIs.

Oh ok, so would you recommend me taking SAT I's over, or take the SAT II's?

...From the way you're asking the question, it sounds as if you think the SAT II's are optional or can stand in for the SAT I. That is a false assumption. The SAT I OR the ACT is mandatory. However, regardless if which test you take, you must take 3 SAT II's, one of which must be Writing. If you're going to be a senior and you haven't taken the SAT II's yet, I strongly suggest you take the SAT II's this October as there are only two test dates left before applications go out.

At certain colleges the ACT overrides the SAT I and SAT II's. So concentrate on the ACT.

Yes, I did think it was one or the other, and that SAT II 's were optional. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll take the ACT and the SAT II I guess, thanks for the help

Many colleges don't require SAT IIs. Check with the ones you are applying to to find out.

Just checked and my colleges want SAT I and ACT, no SAT II. Thanks
