I want to take

AP GOV & POL
AP ENGLISH (LIT AND COMP)
AP ECONOMICS
AP SPANISH LANGUAGE
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND WORLD GEORGRAPHY HN
PHYSICS HN
PRE CAL HN

but due to scheduling I cannot take International Relations, what do you guys recommend I take? I can only take an AP course. We have all the APs available at our school. I've already taken AP US HIST Junior Year.

um, um, chemistry or bio? if you like science.
or AP gov't is good too.

By Ndbisme (Ndbisme) on Wednesday, August 06, 2003 - 02:00 pm: Edit

I REALLY want to take Chemistry. AP Chem was my first choice. But my schedule is conflicting with the main office and the career center. I was thinking of adding an AP science because all I have taken is APs in history, and language. I cannot take an AP math because I have not completed pre-cal. What are people's view of AP Chemistry? I was also thinking of taking AP Physics. How would you rate them? (Easy to Tough, Fun to Dreadful, Intellectually stimulating to "please shoot me")

AP Physics B, I hear, is "normal" difficulty (comparatively, of course), while Physics C approaches flat-out evil.
Where do you go to school?

By Clickspring (Clickspring) on Wednesday, August 06, 2003 - 05:18 pm: Edit

Why don't you tell us what is available at your school? Does your school offer AP Physics B or AP Physcis C? Physics C is calculus based, so you will not want to take it if you haven't had precalc yet. Are you taking AP gov one semester and AP econ the next semester, or are you taking two semesters of each? Are you sure you want to take on both physics and chemistry in the same year?

My school offers ALL the APs. Not necessarily my school, but the Career Center.

I go to R.J. Reynolds HS

Check out for APs offered: http://www.rjrhs.org/school_profile.htm

I was only considering AP Phys B since I don't plan to major in Engineering, etc.

I'm supposed to take 7 courses each semester (A, B) I take the first half of all the above courses the first semester (A), and then the last half the second and last semester (B). My school, from what I understand is the definition of a block schedule, is not on one.

My schedule as it stands is

0 AP ECONOMICS A (MICRO FIRST)
1 AP ENGLISH LIT AND COMP A
2 AP SPANISH A
3 CONFLICT-- NEED TO ADD SOMETHING OR STAY IN LIBRARY. I NEED TO ADD AN AP SINCE THE CAREER CENTER TO WHICH I ARRIVE FIRST ONLY HAS APs
4 AP US GOVERNMENT A
5 Travel back to school
6 Pre Cal A Honors
7 Physics A Honors

Thanks!

I'm looking for a course that won't kill me but will not make me ask someone to kill me. eg. I want a medium-tough course. Is my schedule too much? I wanna go 2 I-V skool!

And, yeah, I'd like to take two sciences in one year. Our school allows it and I did it last year (not AP though, Chemistry and Environmental Science Honors).

I'm also thinking I need an AP science since I'm on the Science Academic Team at our school.

AP Psychology?

By Clickspring (Clickspring) on Wednesday, August 06, 2003 - 06:27 pm: Edit

IF you're lookign for an AP Science (which I consider to be the smartest move -- 4 years of english, science, math, and social science look good to colleges), I reccomend AP Biology because it's medium-tough and less difficult than AP Chem. Good luck!

Call up the Career Center (or Reynolds' guidance counselor) and ask them what they have vacancies for in AP classes 3rd period. It's probably too late to stick yourself in one, but it'd be best to see what AP classes you can join before you start trying to figure out which one is best.

You'll just *love* Mr. Milner, by the way.

I wish my school had those extracurriculars... we have only a few outside of sports and music

By Ndbisme (Ndbisme) on Thursday, August 07, 2003 - 01:12 pm: Edit

Yeah, Mr. Milner seems like a good guy. I never met him but I know he was teacher of the year for the WSFCS area.

By the time I graduate I'll have:
4 courses in English
5 courses in History
6 (hopefully if I get AP Chem) in Science
4 courses in Math

Remember the Science team at East last year (the one you really stomped on, like you did for just about every other school in the county)? How about the really tall guy who was on there, and was also the General Knowledge captain? The one who looked like he *really* hated wearing his "The Answer Is Canada" shirt?

Yep; that's me. Rising senior and now unofficial ubercaptain of Academic Team and Quiz Bowl down here in K-Vegas. I'm thinking of going maybe 4-3 this year, if we're lucky. ...I also know about half of Mr. Milner's 4th period AP Government; ...good luck.

I'd hate to be on the East SAT. Thanks! I guess I'll see ya the coming season. I'm in General Knowledge and Science.
