It seems like the world around me is full of 800s - I haven't met anyone in school who hasn't got 800 for mathIIc and physics. Of course writing's another matter - the curve for that one seems quite brutal. I'm wondering what an 800 in IIC/physics is actually worth, then - is it any different from, say, a 780? After all, you have almost 10% of test-takers getting 800 for mathIIc and 6% in physics.
What I find odd is how different the SAT I and II curves can be; bright students can significantly underperform on the SAT I but they seem to do well (800) without exception on IIs, except maybe in writing. Or is it just my school?

You're right. My SAT 1 Math is 800 and my SAT II Math IIC is 800. I missed 2 questions on SAT I M and probably 4-5 questions on IIC. It was really easy (the SAT II Math, that is). Physics is a bit rougher (720), but that's just because it's been a couple of years since I have taken a physics class... Physics also have a "nice" curve.
